ChillicotheBands.com featured in the Chillicothe Gazette

March 1, 2010 in Articles, Site News

Thank You to the Chillicothe Gazette for featuring the web site in the paper and online! You can check out the article at the Chillicothe Gazette here: Local musician establishes online network for area bands. I also posted the full article below.

Courtesy of the Chillicothe Gazette:

A local man’s longtime passion for music has inspired him to start an online site for aficionados of the Scioto Valley music scene.

Brent Beaver, a 1986 Paint Valley graduate, began www.ChillicotheBands.com over the summer with the express goal of being a one-stop shop for people looking for local musical entertainment. The site is free and offers a calendar for music events, from gospel to screamo, and a place for bands to post general information about their music and a link to their own Web site. Members also can create their own profile, interact in forums and post free classifieds for anything from an instrument for sale to someone seeking a band or bandmate.

The idea came from Beaver’s time spent living in Dayton where a similar site is operated.

“I’m a musician, of course, and have been playing (guitar) since ’78 and I’m from here. I wondered why isn’t there a site like that (one in Dayton) here,” Beaver said.

The site went live in June 2009 and so far more than 20 bands have signed up with the site. Beaver, 41, promotes the site when he gets a chance to go out to shows around being a husband, father of three and computer specialist.

“Anybody I’ve talked to about it …they like the idea,” Beaver said.

Music has been a natural part of Beaver’s family, with his mom, Linda Beaver, being an avid pianist and organist since she was a pre-teen, and his brother, Tony Eallonardo, being one of his first bandmates in Glass Onion. He fine-tuned his musical tastes to the rock stylings of Kiss, AC/DC and Van Halen.

“I enjoy all aspects of (music), getting up on stage, just playing guitar in general and mingling with other musicians in the scene,” Beaver said.

Beaver has started playing with a band again, 45 Insert. The band’s style is newer metal covers with some original tunes mixed in, he said.
